Toys & Treasures

Many children have a special toy, stuffed animal or blanket that make them feel more comfortable when away from home. Feel free to bring it, but please limit it to only one item a day. Make sure everything is labeled with your child’s name. Please provide a tote bag or backpack to carry your child’s belongings home every day.

Clothing & Supplies

Please dress children in washable play clothes and sturdy shoes. We recommend wearing long pants to avoid scraped knees. We will take as much precaution as possible, but sometimes paints or other materials may stain. A change of clothes, extra underwear, socks and shoes should be brought and left as a backup. Please label all clothing. Parents are responsible for providing diapers and wipes.

Pottty Training

We do not require your child to be potty trained before starting with us. When children start showing signs of interest, we like to work together with our families to help during this transition.

Arrivals & Departures

During drop off and pick up one of the teachers will walk children in and out. When you pull into the driveway please call and we will meet you at the front gate. Upon drop off temperature will be taken before child enters. If your child is going to be absent or late please call and notify us. Children will be released only to their parents or an authorized adult. (Picture identification will be required.)  There will be a late charge of $15.00 per fifteen minutes or fraction of fifteen minutes for pick-ups after 3:00. Parents or guardians are solely responsible for their children before drop off and after pick up. Siblings of The Cottage Playhouse students cannot be left unattended at any time.  The Cottage Playhouse is not responsible for child safety or property damage before drop off or after pick up.

Colds & Illness

Please keep child home if he or she has a temperature, conjunctivitis, yellow or green nasal discharge, runny nose, cough, sore throat, any cold/flu symptoms or any other potentially contagious illness and/or communicable disease.  If your child has a fever, diarrhea or vomiting, they are required to remain home for 72 hours after symptoms have disappeared. If any symptoms arise during the day you will be called to pick up your child. Please have all necessary back up care plans in place and a back up plan for care when your child is sick.

Medication

Medication of any kind will only be given to a child with written instructions as prescribed by the doctor and/or written consent from parent permitting The Cottage Playhouse staff to administer medication. All medications must be kept in the original container. Please do not leave any medication in diaper bags or backpacks.

Vacations & Holidays

A calendar of holidays and vacation days are issued every December. If you take a personal holiday or a vacation, you must still pay for care, since we will be reserving your child’s space. However, for all planned holiday and vacation days listed on our holiday calendar, you will receive a daily credit. Unplanned emergency closures due to poor air quality, water shut off, flood, power outages, natural disaster, illness, public health emergency, or other unforeseen circumstances are not eligible for refunds or make up days.

Payment Policy

Payments are due in advance on the first of each month. There will be a late fee of $75.00 if not paid by the third business day of each month, and a $75.00 charge for all returned checks. There are no make up days or refunds; this includes absences and illnesses. A 30 day written notice is required prior to your child leaving or for any schedule changes.

Conferences

Please let us know if there are any questions, concerns or problems. We can help you most effectively if we know what is occurring in all aspects of your child’s life. You may request a conference to discuss your child’s development at any time.
